heart

Is Your Period Ending in Just 2 Days with Scanty, Pale Flow? Weak Blood Signals Demand Attention! Here’s What to Do.

What Causes Scanty, Pale Menstrual Flow?

Qi and Blood Deficiency (60% of cases)

Lifestyle Triggers: Crash dieting, late-night binge-watching, replacing water with milk tea.

Warning Signs: Flow <20ml (barely dampens half a pad), pale/watery blood, pale nails, shortness of breath climbing stairs.

Kidney Essence Depletion (Common in "Premature Aging" Millennials)

High-risk Groups: ≥2 abortions, long-term contraceptive pill use.

Symptoms: Severe lower back pain during periods, mid-cycle spotting, AMH levels below 1.5.

Phlegm-Damp Obstructing the Uterus (Weight-related)

Habits: Fried chicken + milk tea daily, <500 daily steps.

Visible Clues: Mucus-streaked menstrual blood, cottage cheese-like discharge, thick greasy tongue coating.

Liver Stagnation & Blood Stasis (Stress-induced)

Modern Struggles: Anxiety-induced insomnia, suppressed anger, premenstrual breast tenderness.

Flow Characteristics: Scanty dark flow, sudden stops, fine blood clots.

How Does TCM Treat Scanty, Pale Periods?

Dr.Que Poh Yuen Albert, gynecology expert at Singapore’s Gong Fang Tang TCM Clinic, explains: "In TCM, Qi commands blood, while blood nourishes Qi. Adequate Qi-blood ensures normal menstruation. Deficiency leads to insufficient uterine nourishment, causing pale scanty flow, often with pallor, dizziness, fatigue, palpitations, and insomnia. Ignoring this risks ovarian decline and infertility!"

Recommended Formula: Eight Treasures Decoction (Ba Zhen Tang)

Originating from Ming Dynasty physician Xue Ji’s Orthopedic Essentials, this formula combines Four Gentlemen Decoction (Ginseng, Atractylodes, Poria, Licorice) and Four Substances Decoction (Rehmannia, Angelica, Chuanxiong, Peony) for unparalleled Qi-blood replenishment.

Qi Boosters: Ginseng (revives primordial Qi), Atractylodes (strengthens spleen), Poria (drains dampness), Licorice (harmonizes).

Blood Builders: Rehmannia (nourishes yin-blood), Angelica (activates blood circulation), Peony (preserves blood), Chuanxiong (moves Qi-blood).

Together, they synergize to replenish Qi-blood, restore Chong-Ren meridians, and normalize menstruation.

Custom Modifications:

Blood clots: Add Motherwort (15g), Spatholobus Stem (20g).

Cold limbs: Add Cinnamon Twig (9g), Charred Mugwort (10g).

Night sweats: Add Ligustrum (12g), Eclipta (15g).
